FAQs
How does it work?
A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible “lift” in the skin. This has the effect of repositioning the soft tissue to its more youthful position, thereby lifting and tightening the face. In addition to being ideal for lifting the skin, threads combat aging in another way: by provoking the body’s “healing response” and causing the body to replenish collagen in the treated areas. This is important because of the vital role collagen plays in the aging process. In other words, this process provides ongoing and progressive rejuvenation for facial soft tissues.
What are the advantages of having a thread lift instead of a facelift?
1.Different recovery time
Facelifts: A facelift is an operation performed under general anaesthesia. It requires surgically dissecting through facial soft tissue layers, and placing sutures to physically lift and anchor these tissue layers. It Is highly effective in the treatment of moderate to severe age-related changes such as jowling and tissue sagging. However, a facelift is also associated with inevitable surgical scars, higher risk and significantly longer recovery time.
Thread lifts: Thread lift is a procedure performed in clinic under local anesthesia. It involves the placement of very fine threads under the skin to reposition soft tissue, and the stimulate collage regeneration. Recovery from a thread lift is comparatively shorter for most patients. While some patients will experience discomfort, redness and swelling after having a thread lift, and may therefore wish the day off, most can return to work within 1-2 days.
2.Different suitable group
Facelifts: Some of the signs of aging include developing lines due to loss of volume or repeated muscle action, sagging skin and excess skin. It is the latter two that facelifts are very effective in treating. Facelifts are also useful in restoring some of the volume that you would have lost from your face, ridding you of deep creases around your eyes, nose and mouth.
Thread lifts: The procedure is specifically for those people who have not manifested large number of aging signs.
Who is suitable for thread lift?
Generally, younger patients, and those with mild to moderate age-related changes may wish to consider thread lift rather than a surgical facelift. The common problems and areas treated by threads include nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jowls, loss of jawline definition and sagging skin around the sides of the face and neck. Patient who are working, and are less able to accept a prolonged surgical recovery are also good candidate for consideration of thread lift.
It is important that you consult a specialist plastic surgeon who will assess your individual needs and expectations, and provide a realistic treatment plan for you.
