FAQs
Why do eyebags form?
Aging changes in the lower eyelid plays a central role in the overall changes of midface aging. These changes are often multifactorial and often several treatment modalities may be combined to give the best possible result.
These changes often lead to:
· Excess skin or “bags” under the lower lid.
· A deep groove near the inner part of the lower eyelid – the “tear trough”.
· Out turning and loosening of the lower lid exposing the inner lining of the lower lid (ectropion).
· Drooping of the midface leading to heavy naso-labial folds (folds on either sides of the nose)
If I need surgery, where it leave a visible scar?
This would depend on exactly what you require. In some patients, a “trans-conjunctival” approach may be used which leaves a scar on the inside of the lower eyelid which is not generally a visible area.
In other patients a “sub-ciliary approach” may be required which will leave a very faint line on the outside of the lower eyelid immediately below your eyelashes. Even though this is a visible scar, in the vast majority of patients this scar will mature over time to become almost invisible.
