Microfill: Restore Your Youthful Appearance

As we age, our faces go through a number of significant changes. Deep lines and wrinkles appear, eyebrows droop, cheeks start to hollow and the quality of our skin begins to deteriorate. This often results in a tired and sunken facial appearance.

One option to counteract the ageing process, rejuvenate the face and improve the appearance of youth is fat transfer. Facial fat grafting is a safe, non-invasive procedure that restores fullness in areas such as the cheeks, nasolabial folds, chin and lips.

Fat transfer has been used in facial augmentation and re-contouring for years, and is a longer-lasting corrective solution than temporary fillers.

The two-step procedure involves removal of excess fat via syringe from areas such as the abdominal wall or outer thighs, and disposal of that same fat into areas of the face to achieve the desired augmentation. It must be performed by a qualified plastic surgeon.

As Eastern Plastic Surgery’s head surgeon Mr Frank Lin says, “The reality is that most fat grafting around the world is done poorly, which leads to weak or inconsistent survival of the transferred fat”. It is essential to choose the right surgeon to perform the procedure correctly.

Microfill is a non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedure from the French company Adip’sculpt.  Adip’sculpt is an innovator in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. It has developed a range of single-use medical devices specifically for adipose tissue transfer and volume restoration, and its products ensure maximum patient safety.

Mr Lin remarks that “the key to fat grafting is in the meticulous preparation and refinement process”, and says that the quality of Microfill lies in the fact that it is more a procedure than just a product.

The Microfill procedure begins with the extraction of adipose tissue (fat) from the abdominal or thigh area. The adipose tissue is then purified before being injected in very small quantities over different areas around the face. The patient can return to regular activities the day after operation, and the results can last for many years.

The advantages of using Microfill over another fat transfer procedure include:

  •      Reduced swelling and postoperative bruising
  •      Short infiltration time
  •      Preservation of tissue viability
  •      Higher level of quality and efficiency compared to other grafting procedures
  •      Enhanced trophic effect on the skin through increased collagen secretion
  •      Maximum safety and security
  •      Consistent and reliable results

As Mr Lin says “I personally think that most products on the market sell a ‘quicker’, ‘easier’ or ‘more convenient’ way  of fat grafting, whereas this product seems to promote reliability and  results rather than ease of use”.

The Microfill procedure is offered at Eastern Plastic Surgery. For more information phone (03) 9890 2800 to book a consultation.
