Dr Frank Lin is a Specialist Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon

He is a fully qualified member of:

  • Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS)
  • Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) – the peak national association for specialist plastic surgeons
  • Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastics Surgeons (ASAPS)
  • International Society of Aesthetic Plastics Surgeons (ISAPS)
After graduating from Melbourne University in 2001, Frank undertook General Surgery training at St Vincent’s Hospital before embarking on advanced surgical training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the auspices of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. During this period, he worked at major Melbourne hospitals including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Children’s Hospitals. After completing specialist surgical training and gaining recognition as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Frank undertook further overseas fellowship training in to further his subspecialty interest in breast plastic surgery and plastics surgery for Asian patients. Frank undertook travelling fellowship in:


  • Microsurgical breast reconstruction in London with world-renowned Prof. Venkat Ramakrishnan.
  • Microsurgery at the University of Tokyo. Prof. Isao Koshima.
  • Asian Aesthetic Surgery and Adipose Tissue Transfer. The University of Tokyo. Prof. Nakajima
  • Asian Breast Aesthetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery: Shanghai 9th People’s Hospital. Prof. Yu Li.
  • Asian Endoscopic Breast Aesthetic Surgery and Facial Cosmetic Surgery: Image Clinic in Seoul, South Korea: Prof. Hong Ki Lee.
During this extended period of training, Frank has undertaken further research and has academic publications in areas such as microsurgical reconstructive surgery, craniofacial surgery and hand surgery. Upon returning to Melbourne, Frank commenced work as a specialist plastic surgeon with public hospital appointments at Eastern Health and Peninsula Health. In 2013, Frank founded Eastern Plastic Surgery in the new medical precinct at Box Hill in Melbourne’s east. Frank is actively involved in academic conferences and meetings and has been a regular speaker at RACS, ASPS and ISAPS conferences.  

Frank believes strongly in the teaching of trainee specialist plastic surgeons and medical students. He is the current RACS and ASPS appointed Supervisor of Plastic Surgery Training at the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Eastern Health Box Hill Hospital. He also supervises medical student training with Monash University Medical School through Eastern Health, and Melbourne University Medical School through Epworth Hospitals.
